Good afternoon, Hammerheads!

Well, we won! I think that may have been the smallest team that we’ve ever competed against. The result was 496.5 to 258.5!

For those new to the team, I hope the swimmers enjoyed their first meet! You all got to see some fun, fast races and lots of individual achievements. Most importantly, we saw what happens when swimmers are part of an amazing team like the Hillbrooke Hammerheads. I think the whole of Johns Creek heard the cheering for Colton. I’m incredibly proud of the determination that Colton had to overcome his nerves, and for the support that the entire team gave him – that’s what swim team should be about!

We welcome Shakerag this Thursday, and that WILL be a more competitive meet.

In a way, having a smaller meet helped us overcome the cancellation of the mock meet, and we need to learn some things from it!

We are EXTREMELY tight on our volunteer numbers this year. We have many families that have more than two children and we also have a lot of 15u swimmers. That means our volunteer to swimmer ratio is lower than it’s ever been, so we have no margin for error in terms of subs.

• 2.Timers need to concentrate - we had far too many missed times.
• 3.We need every volunteer – FIRST AND SECOND SHIFT – to collect their name badge before the beginning of the meet. If you’re running late, text me on 470 455 9415.
• 4.Bull Pens were a bit of a mess at times. I’ll send a separate email about this – it’s one of the most important jobs – we need to get it right, especially when there are over 200 swimmers around the pool next week.

Thank you to everyone that donated drinks. If you haven’t yet, please try to do that this week. We need more DIET COKE and GATORADE (the big bottles!) please.
