    Goodbye....not goodbye

First and by far the most important this to say is thank you.  Thank you for trusting our team with your swimmers, thank you for everything you have contributed to make this happen for the past 8 years. And thank you tonight for all of the kind words, the hugs, the small conversations I had on the side.  I had not planned on getting super emotional tonight, but the finality of it kind of washed over me.  It kept me from saying all that I wanted to say.  First, you have not gotten rid of me entirely, I will be around to provide as much help and support to Stephen as possible. SO you will still see me more then you would like, just not as much as before.  Second, and my emotions tonight betrayed this, I could not be more proud of the program this has become, The size of the team is not the measure of the team it is the quality of people.  I have heard over and over again that our team does things right, the kid shack hand after events they are polite and kind,  This is a credit to all of you.  Our team is known widely in ASA as a team full of quality swimmers and more importantly quality people.

I said tonight that I had one goal in running this team, and that was to create memories for each of these swimmers. When I look out at them after meets, spending time with each other, playing and laughing, I feel like we have succeeded.

I became emotional tonight for one primary reason.  I am so so proud of this team. Proud of the swimmers, proud of the coaches, proud to even be associated with Coach Ashley, one of the most amazing humans that I have ever met.  Proud of the hours upon hours that Betsi and I put into this (and none of this happened without my amazing wife).

It is very hard for me to step away because i love this program, I love all of you, but I know that it will continue on probably better then ever.

But again this is not goodbye, I will be around more then you would like doing all I can do to support Stephen (until he gets sick of me).  So not goodbye, but thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives and your swimmers lifes. I pray that summer swim continues to be a source of indelible memories for each of your swimmers.  Thanks you for all of the kid words and card.  I love you all.  Good luck to the Tech Swimmers.
