    2020 Swim!!!!

Well Hammerheads I know a lot of you have been asking what the plan is and we finally have a plan! We are excited to tell you that we will be having a team this summer, though very very different from years past. Without going into the details of what the league has decided to do and why we have decided to go the direction we are I am excited to present this as a fun swim option for your kids. First I need you to reset all of your expectations for swim team, because this will be very very different. In fact, I think of it almost like a private swim camp. Much of the fine details we are still figuring out and much will be decided on how many sign up.

Our “season” will begin Monday June 22 and run through Friday July 31. The season will consist of practices Monday through Friday during that period. The practice times have not been set yet, but they will be between 8 and 11. There will be no evening activities. For the 4 weeks in July the swimmers will swim time trials once a week that will be timed. We will hand out ribbons and beads for placing in their time trials and for beating their previous weeks scores (but let’s be clear, these are not meets and other teams are not involved in any way) As you can imagine many of us have made plans during that period. It is not a problem if you miss any part of the season at all. This also applies to our coaches and Managers. Coach Ashley will be returning July 7 from her family vacation so Coach Jessica has agreed to return to cover some of that period. But again, we ask your patience as we work through the details.

Please register on the website as you normally would.  Our fees will remain the same in order to pay the coaches, but you will not pay any ASA fees.  They should now be removed from the registration process.  Let me know if that is not the case.

Because of our paired down staffing we will not be able to allow anyone who can’t already swim from one end of the pool to the other without help. This will not be associated with the league at all so you will not pay league dues, if you already have I will send instructions on how to get a refund from the league. We are going to require each family to sign a waiver that you understand that there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19 and that you accept that risk. We will have rules in place to keep everyone as safe as possible and it will be the parents obligation to make sure their children are following the rules, this cannot be the responsibility of the coaches or managers. Below please find a list of the rules we are putting in place with regard to COVID-19.

We have a couple very simple goals. First and most importantly, we want the kids to have fun. We want them to have some sort of swim experience, get outside, get some exercise and improve at swimming. Everything we will be doing will be to further those goals. We will learn as we go and are always open to suggestions. I hope this comes as happy news! I am happy to answer any questions you might have. Swimmers outside of Hillbrooke are, as always, welcome! Feel free to invite friends that have not been on our team in advance! Hope to see you all soon!!!

    Covid-19 Safety measures

    1. Hand sanitizers have been place in 2 locations around the pool.
    2. Pool furniture is wiped down about 10 times each day
    3. We will limited practices in numbers to allow for distancing
    4. As much as practically possible, the children will be separated by 6 feet (parents waiver will acknowledge that this will not always be possible)
    5. Coaches will not be in the water or hands on with the swimmers (unless regulations change to allow this)
    6. No swimmer or parent will be allowed in the pool with any symptoms associated with COVID-19
    7. 12 and under swimmers must have 1 parent stay at practice to unsure their swimmer is abiding by the rules.
