Georgia Tech Swim Meet
Hey Hammerheads,
This will be our 5th year going down to Georgia Tech for the ASA Championships. Jackson started going when he was 5 and Bailey went when she was just 4 years old! Everyone that has ever gone will tell you that it is a really neat experience-not only for your kids, but parents as well! When they asked what my son was going to do this summer at school in front of the whole class his answer was "swim at GT for the championships". The kids love to say they got to swim where they held the Olympics, it really is larger than life! Both of my kids made it back to finals last year - I would NEVER have expected that!! You just never know. My son was #29 last year for breast stroke (and believe me, I did NOT expect that! ha!). And if you don't want to go back to Championships if you make it...you don't have to!!
The thing to keep in mind is that not all the kids you swam against during the swim season decide to go to the championships, so it gives your child a better chance. Your child also gets to choose which 2 events they participate in. Relays are an awesome way to swim more than 2 events!
Nearly every year I have gone, the team we always beat (The Highland Park Crocs)- wins the giant team trophy for state! Yep...you heard that right. They loose nearly all their meets, but take so many swimmers to state that they win every time! That could easily be us!!!
GA Tech Divisional Meet
How would your kid like to swim in the 1996 Olympic Swimming Pool at GA Tech? How would you like to see their names on the official Olympic scoreboard???
This is a fast paced and exciting event for everyone!!!
Our session for the divisional is Thursday June 28th from 3-6:30 pm (approximately). Championship is Saturday June 30th from 11am-2pm (10 and under) and 4 pm- 7:30 (11 and up).
If you are interested please email us with your child’s name ASAP and events or see us at practice for more information.
There is a $20 fee per swimmer. (Parking at the event is about $15 per car - suggest carpooling). Please make checks payable to “Hillbrooke Swim Team” and return to one of us by End of Practice Monday, June 18th
All swimmers may enter 2 individual events and up to two relays. (Swimmers can choose their individual events and coaches will choose relays. Child’s full name and 2 events need to be listed on your check.) Top 40 overall (10 and under) or 30 overall (11 and up) are invited back for the Saturday swim along with the top 10 relays.
We will need to provide several volunteers. Please let us know if you are interested. You can purchase an ad in the heat sheet. This would be financially beneficial for the team.
